About the Docuseries

People of Determination is docuseries about martial artists with limb loss or in wheelchairs who compete in jiu-jitsu, and are trying to get it as a sport in the Paralympics.

The name of this series comes from the translation of the words used to describe people with limb loss and in wheelchairs in Arabic. While there is nothing wrong with the word or identification with disabilities, the core perception of both the speaker and the subject by calling them people of determination is a vantage that gives far more capacity, strength, respect, and illumination of their experience. We hope this project helps people see what is possible, in life and jiu-jitsu, for adaptive athletes. You can read more about it here.

We are currently fundraising to film in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi, UAE this fall to showcase Rustin Hughes as he competes in global parajiu-jitsu competitions. All contributions are tax deductible!
